Atwater Afternoon!
Thank you to everyone who came out for Margaret Adachi's Dog Day Afternoon. We sure had a blast seeing you all. It was a great turnout. Margaret's strange and wonderful sculpture had everyone enthralled and Individual Medley is now one of our favorite stores for great smelling stuff and good vibes. Check them out if you couldn't make it. They're swell people.

Miracles in West Adams...
A wonderful day in West Adams with record turnout for Julio Panisello's Miracles of the Dough at The Velaslavasay Panorama. We love the Panorama and were so glad so many of you got to see it. It's an amazing place in this lovely city of ours. We can't thank them enough for allowing us to show up and show off Julio Panisello's work.
What can we say about Julio? We love him! We knew he'd bring us something fresh, funny and unforgettable. Thank you, Julio.

Julio Panisello: Miracles of the Dough

ShoeboxLA is pleased
to present Julio Panisello: Miracles of the Dough. Employing old
master techniques utilizing egg tempera painting, charcoal, and gold leaf to
develop a modern recreation of a Renaissance self-portrait series, Julio
Panisello offers us artwork in edible media which recreates history and celebrates
the modern artist.
The sundried conspersam
farinam (salt dough) used in this four-triptych series is durable yet fragile. Installed within the gallery environment,
these ultimately perishable triptychs will expand and contract over time
depending on weather conditions, commenting on the inexorability of time and
the inevitability of decay.
Julio Panisello
earned his BFA (cum laude) in Painting and a postgraduate degree in
Pedagogy from the University of
Barcelona, Catalonia. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
The Velaslavasay
Panorama, located in the West Adams Historic District, is an exhibition
hall, theatre and garden dedicated to the production and presentation of
unusual visual experiences, including those of the 360-degree variety: www.panoramaonview.org
